May 23 2007-
I'm so sorry I haven't blogged here in a while, I wanted to, really. Time has been doing its ticking thing and life is moving on. Getting married took a lot out of me, it wasnt bad, and I love my wife but it was a step that I took that to a few steps back on me. Trying to help organize the wedding, hoping that everything goes as planned, blah, blah, blah. Anyhoo im back at it, and a lot has changed, I have built a few new websites, and I'm going after new things. Right now I am in Florida, and attending a daily search engine optimization seminar at Disney. As a designer I will be able to not only design cool sites but help them be found through some quality keyword phrases. I highly recomend this class, I've been taking it for three days now and have learned a bundle of quality information to keep me on top of my game. They instruct us on all the details and answer all the questions we ask, there were BIG names there too, a guy that sells quality teak furniture, even an executive from Readers Digest. A lot more came into play here, I realized I haven't been totally wrong with what my approach has been thus far, and found out a lot about dynamic websites and what has to be done to make them work for SEO thanks to Robin Nobles, John Alexander and Dave Barry. Im actually considering taking the valuable information they have been teaching me and starting my own search engine optimization company in Utica, NY. There isn't a lot there but the companies that are there could really grow their business if they hire an search engine bee like me. I'm going to sleep now maybe I can get up early enough to not get lost on the Disney Campus, Its nucking futs there.

April 1 2006-
Happy Birthday Gary Sumner! Im so lucky to have a father like mine. He's taught me so much about everything, and he made me the man I am today. Thanks dad! not that he ever goes on the internet, but I still cant stop thinking of him today, on his birthday. Hes givin me vision, ability, and he's helping me learn patience. all these things will help me in business, in love, and I can pass all these valuable life ethics to my children one day. Ok, ok, I'm done with the dad talk. Austin, Texas marks my first plane riddin destination. Sure id rather take a train, but whos got 4 days to waste, I got to make it down there to meet with one of the worlds biggest companies, 3M™. I hope I can leave a good impression of myself there with them. Im sure I will do a great job representing myself and FIS. We are to be preparing plans how to advertise the 2 companies together. aside from the work this will be my first time in Austin. I will be looking to explore as much as possible. and i will be taking photos so check the gallery forr their arrival.

March 10 2006-
March is here! Its been a mild winter and I've had lots of fun with my winter activities, but its time for spring. I'm looking forward to the spring. The air tastes different, and people are ready to go outside again. If you've been reading these blogs then you know that the Utica's St Patricks Day Parade is coming up this is always a good time for me and mine, I like to get out there early and flood the streets with Utica Club beer and jello shots. Last year we even got mayor Tim Julian to take one with us. This year will be similar, i will most likely be sleeping by 4pm tired out from drinking to much and walking the streets of Utica all day. I think my brother is coming home for this, thats exciting. Other than that March has started off on a good foot, and i hope it all increases. Ive been keeping busy with work, I have gotten a new client Crosspoint International, this is a company with HUGE potential. Their business focuses on international commerce and gives small and medium size companies a chance to compete with the ever growing market in China. You ask.... what does that mean? Well the large companies in the western world have already moved alot of their business to china, sourcing, manufacturing, and utilizing the cost advatages gained by doing business with China. As of now we are finishing up a brochure and branding package for XPI, and will soon tackle the website design they require. I've also been totally obsessed with google, I've been reading their book about the rise of their empire and it has inspired me. Im currently undergoing intense training to update my brain with all the technical advances with Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In what seems to be such a complicated task as I learn I am finding out its the simple things that count. as things progress I hope to expand JS Design's capabilities so I can accomodate clients with SEO service and consulting. Today I leave for My sisters house, all the way in VA. The long drive will be worth it though, I'll get to see my sister and her family that I haven't see in over a year. To top it off she just had another baby, so thats even more family for me to love.

Everyone has goals in life, and if you don't, where are you going? Recently I discovered the importance of goals, having them, reaching them and what happens when you acomplish them. My whole life I grew up doing athletic things, and I had sort of a bad car accident that played a major role in my life and my athletic activities. Basically after the accident i gave up on them, scared to re-injure myself and finding it hard to deal with pain from the injury. Just this past year i really started to resent the fact that i gave things up, things i really enjoyed such as skiiing. So I did something about it. I decided to take up snowboarding. I got myself a new board and a lift ticket and hit the bunny hill at Woods Valley in Rome, NY. I've never done it before! So my first time out i had a hurt'n backside. I used to roller blade, I used to skateboard, ive even surfed, so i thought getting the hang of the snowboard would be cake. It really wasn't. I was very disappointed in myself the next day. But I set a goal, and i dont remember anytime in my life where i gave up. So, on Saturday i went back to the bunny hill trying to get my practice in and teach myself the art of snowboarding. After a few hours somthing clicked. I had figured it out. Im not ready for the X-games yet, but i can do it, and with more practice i sould get better. After this success i had the confidence i needed, and it was because i acomplished my goal. I felt like a million bucks. So now i will remember how important goals are, they give you confidence, and ambition. They can make you a better person, more valuable in the proffesional world, and you become more self relient knowing you can acomplish anything.

February 1 2006-
This year already looks to be filled with excitement, there are new projects rolling in and I have tons of plans for the year. It's winter here in upstate NY even though we haven't seen snow in a few weeks it really is winter. I have been so busy designing the 2006 edition product catalog for Fiber Instrument Sales, I haven't had the time to go enjoy it. But I have a few trips planned to go snow boarding, and maybe to visit some family. My sister is expecting, and I think she's due in mid February. I'm very excited to have another nephew to love. I will be visiting her and her family after the madness settles down from the child birth. Before that I think I'm going to see my brother in Plymouth for his B-day. I find it hard to have my brother and sister grow up and move away from here. I miss them, and I know I'm not living up to be the best uncle I can be, But I love it here in Utica. The people are friendly and even if some people might tell you otherwise, there are plenty of things to do if you have an open mind. I'm excited to what's gonna go down this year. First off I have to announce the Utica St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 18th. This is a time when us Uticans get up and go celebrate on the streets of Utica. There is a lot of drinking going on, and and everyone is out to have a good time. I'm sure I'll report back to tell you what went down.

January 14 2006-
This is my first entry on this blog. I'm currently building the new website for JS Design. Finally after almost 2 years of using the old site. I'm happy to give a face lift to it. The other one was out dated and didn't really represent the company as much as it this one. I just finished the Dogo site, this was a challenging one. I had a bunch of problems working with the ISP. We got it up and running, the client is happy so what more can I ask for. In 2005 we kept pretty busy here. Designing a new site for the Electric Company a bar in Utica, NY, this was a fun site to work on. The people at the EC are so nice and have a great vision for their company. I also did a site for Alpine Panels, they still have some pages under construction but im sure they'll get that content to me and we'll be rollin in no time. The EZ Riders Snowmobile Club was on the list for receiving a new site this year as well. This is another fun site I hope I can get to go for a ride with these guys. Major updates and changes to the FIS site, and there is so much more I'm planning on doing in the early part of this year. Keep checking out all of these sites and watch how they grow. Also throughout last year I designed tons of random things, a menu for Backstreets Brewing Company, Custom invitations galore and several new logos for some local companies. Be sure to check out the rest of the site and hit "control D" right now so you can keep yourself up to date with what we got going on. Hopefully I continue to do all that needs to be done, I got an ipod for Christmas and it has absorbed me. I am constently loading it with songs, pictures and videos. I'm glad to have it though, I always wanted one and now i got one and im enjoying it.
